Brodeur182 from the Bench turned up this “letter” patch. I’ve definitely never seen one of these before:
It ended up selling for $100.03!!! Now I’m not too familiar with Terry O’Reilly, but I’m pretty sure his other letter patches aren’t selling for that much. Must be lots of Irishmen wanting to spell out their last names that drove up the price.
This came in over the weekend. Really nice Patch 1/1 from 2007 National Treasures Football and a great addition for my Brian Leonard Collection. I went to Rutgers at the same time as him, so I’m always on the lookout for any of his cool looking cards.
Some of the 1/1 Rookie Jumbo Patches have really nice pieces. If you collect any of the guys from the 2007 rookie class, keep an eye out for them. Here’s the few really awesome ones that I’ve seen:
Dwight Howard won the Slam Dunk contest over the weekend, bringing some much needed freshness to the contest which has been weak over the last few years. This kid is a MONSTER.
Of course with the added attention, Dwight Howard cards have seen a bump in price over the weekend. Its no secret that Howard is one of the most talented young players in the NBA, and at the young age of 22, I think his best years are still ahead of him.
From time to time I’m going to post some of the cards from my personal collection so you guys can see what I’m into. I’m a big Yankees fan, so we’ll start it off with my favorite player, Alex Rodriguez, Mr. April himself.
1994 SP - His best “true” rookie card and condition sensitive. 1,027 graded BGS 9 out of 9,971 submissions.
I have another raw version of this card and it actually looks like its in better condition than the BGS 9. When I get enough cards together I’m going to send it in to be graded.
One of my collecting goals for this year and beyond is to get my hands on a game used bat barrel card. Unfortunately for me, bat barrel cards are extremely rare and expensive, but they sure are pretty.
While searching for affordable examples on eBay, I turned up these awesome (and completely unaffordable) vintage Bat Barrels of two Yankee Legends.
I don’t know what price the seller of the Mantle expects it end at, but he’s asking $265 for insurance and shipping…
With the 2008 presidential election just around the corner, political cards are a huge theme in the early 2008 releases by Upper Deck and Topps. Topps has included presidential candidate cards in their 2008 Base Set, along with that Rudy Giuliani silliness. Upper Deck followed suit with their Presidential Predictors set in their 2008 Upper Deck Series I. These cards feature caricatures of the candidates done in the style of the Michael Buysner card.
However the Hillary Clinton Presidential Predictor card was kept out of packs because it was deemed to be offensive. Of course, a few of these cards have made it into packs, whether intentionally or accidentally, and they have set off bidding MADNESS on eBay. Click the pic to see the auction for the first of these Clinton cards to hit eBay and prepare to be floored.
Why would anyone pay so much for such an UGLY card??!?! And what genius at Upper Deck thought that this card design would fly in the first place…. Unfortunately for the poor guy with the highest bid on the first Clinton, a few more have popped up on eBay, so who knows how scarce these really are.
If you are dying to get your Hillary fix, I recommend saving your dinero and bidding on this Clinton card by Topps instead:
