The Presidential (Cut Auto) Race Heats Up!

March 7th, 2008 by Alex

Welcome to TCB News, where our slogan is “As Fair and Balanced as Fox News”. Today we are going to take a look at the upcoming Presidential Election.

We don’t waste our time here with exit polls, or delegate counts, or facts, or any of those annoying little tidbits to track the progress of the Election. We have a much more reliable source of information: eBay. Lets see who the almighty market thinks will be our next leader.

Bolstered by an early hype machine funded by speculators, Hillary Clinton surged to an early lead with a strong showing of $1,325 in mid-February with this sale:

A week later, her momentum was stopped after losing much of her ground in the next primary. However the results of that vote have been thrown out because of poor scans and the way that Clinton’s name appeared on the ballot.

Perhaps voters mistook Hillary for Hillary?

Meanwhile on the other side of the Democratic Ticket, Barack Obama blew away the competition with a strong first effort:

Perhaps this strong showing led to some slight over-optimism. The same card is up for resale with a BIN of $5,999.99. Still, Obama has opened up a huge lead over rival Hillary.

Over on the Republican side, the numbers aren’t in on John McCain yet, but he has come out in a flurry of activity.

Only Time will tell whether McCain can surpass Obama. Perhaps having so many cards up for auction at once hurts his chances.

One thing is for sure though: If you are paying $1K+ for a cut auto of a presidential candidate you better think that they have a good chance to win. There wouldn’t be much interest in a Howard Dean or John Kerry Cut Auto today, and likewise, whoever fails to make it to the White House will experience a sharp decline in value.

Just ask Bob Dole.

I love your site. I found your blog via Google while searching for sports collectibles auctions and your post regarding residential Candidate Cut Autos | The Card Blog looks very interesting to me. It really looks very nice. The articles provided are long enough to provide great content but not so long as to be totally engrossing, if you know what I mean.

Thanks for reading! I’ll try to keep the content coming, but to be honest it’s a lot harder to come up with ideas than I thought it would be…
